R L Rea Funeral Directors Limited is a small family-owned business that has grown steadily since it was founded in 1967. The business was formed as Burman Brothers in the 1920’s by two of the Burman brothers who were fully qualified carpenters. Due to a local flu epidemic, they were compelled to set their skills to the funeral trade.
In 1967 the last of the Burman brothers retired and Richard Rea, a fellow carpenter bought the business. The business continued to expand and in 1988 Richard was joined by his son Andrew who took over the business on Richard’s retirement.
Recent investment in the business includes a fully refurbished mortuary facility, private chapel, and a brand-new Coleman Milne classically styled Mercedes hearse and limousine.
