An independent retail co-operative business has taken delivery of the first part of an order comprising of 8 x Mercedes E300E AMG plug-in petrol hybrid hearses and limousines, marking a positive shift to more sustainable funerals across the Midlands.
Founded in 1832 in Coventry, Heart of England Co-op Funerals serves client families through funeral businesses in and around Coventry, Warwickshire, South Leicestershire, and Northamptonshire.
Heart of England Co-op Funeral’s Coleman Milne Mercedes diesel fleet has served the business very well but when it came to the decision to upgrade, the company recognised an opportunity to reduce the company’s carbon footprint through investment in Hybrid vehicles.
The plug-in hybrid range captures the Mercedes AMG elegance, dynamism, and luxury with added benefits for the local community in terms of improved carbon emissions and better fuel consumption.
The technologically advanced models eliminate range anxiety as the electric motor is employed at low speeds and switches to petrol as and when required, to optimise fuel efficiency and keep the vehicle on the road longer between charges.
Another environmental benefit of a plug-in hybrid is the way that an electric car battery minimises waste. For example, regenerative braking converts power generated from braking back into energy.
The Tenorite Grey fleet hearses come complete with an eye-catching Vogue Grey deck and glass roof. The 2 bearer seats add practical comfort, and the illuminated signage adds a distinctive personalisation.
Coleman Milne’s Hybrid models are especially suitable for the funeral trade and families will value the quiet engine and entirely silent operation when in zero-emission full-electric mode.
Darryl Smith, Head of Funeral, said:
“As a company, we feel very passionately about our new Coleman Milne hybrid investment. We are proud to be leading the way in reducing our impact on the environment and this investment along with the installation of charging points throughout our branches demonstrates our commitment to reducing global CO2 emissions.”
