Coleman Milne unveils new all-electric premium hearse for the UK

The UK’s leading funeral car and limousine manufacturer, Coleman Milne, is excited to announce the introduction of a new electric vehicle to its product range – the Coleman Milne Wisper – a premium specification, all-electric hearse for the UK.

The Wisper is the result of a collaboration between two of the luxury vehicle sector’s most prestigious names – Coleman Milne and BINZ International – brought together by the UK-based manufacturing group, Woodall Nicholson. The vehicle is named after a tributary of the River Rhine at Lorch, Germany, the historic home of the original BINZ company founded in 1936.

The Wisper is offered in right-hand-drive UK specification, on both new and used Tesla Model S cars, with a demonstration vehicle due imminently and available exclusively through Bolton-based Coleman Milne. Prices, options and finance packages are also available directly through Coleman Milne.

As a reflection of evolving attitudes towards environmental sustainability, the Wisper will have particular appeal to Coleman Milne customers operating in Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) and Clean Air Zones (CAZ) across the country – and also for Funeral Directors seeing a greater customer demand for eco-funerals.

The new hearse comes with all the Tesla-derived environmental benefits of zero-emission, full-electric operation, including zero road tax, impressive 220-mile single-charge range capability (after conversion) and a range of charging options. Customers will also benefit from the Tesla app, allowing users to control and monitor charging parameters via iPhone and Android mobile devices and providing access to other vehicle functions.

Designed, developed and produced at its state-of-the-art facility near Stuttgart, Germany, BINZ International has transformed the Tesla Model S into a premium specification, ultra-high quality, all-electric hearse. Utilising Tesla’s best-in-class chassis and drivetrain systems, the conversion also leverages BINZ’s pioneering compression composite sandwich construction, forming the vehicle’s monocoque design, adding strength and rigidity to the vehicle body, while at the same time achieving an exceptionally high-quality finish.

Lee Hudson, Managing Director of Coleman Milne, said, “As attitudes among policymakers and the general public shift towards greater environmental sustainability, it is important that the funeral sector takes stock of its own approach to climate change. The Wisper shows it is possible to deliver efficiency and elegance in harmony with social change. The adoption of Clean Air Zones will drive the funeral market toward electric mobility,” he said, “but, it is Funeral Directors and their customers who are increasingly selecting funeral arrangements with a greater focus on environmental protection. Our new Wisper electric hearse will provide a key component in the growing trend for these eco-funerals.

“Thanks to the Tesla Model S platform,” added Lee Hudson, “the Wisper produces zero emissions, allowing access to ULEZ and CAZ areas across the UK, and with a single-charge range making it a practical solution for most funeral homes. The outstanding craftsmanship and customer service provided by BINZ and Coleman Milne deliver a product of the very highest quality.”
